Châteauneuf
du Pape 1989 red wines
Powerfull aromas of leather, a slightly oxidized colour, with
ever-present tannins ... this vintage of red Châteauneuf du
Pape corresponds perfectly to the archetype of great wines made with
grenache. They are definitely wines to accompany meats in sauces.
Châteauneuf
du Pape 1990 red wines
Still wearing a deep, intensive colour with plenty of smooth
tannins, the 1990 wine expresses all the richness portrayed by a great
vintage which has aged well and at the same time kept its properties
of youth : fruit, density and balance. A "winter" Châteauneuf
du Pape wine to be served with leg of lamb, proveçal style
stew, or sautéed veal.
Châteauneuf
du Pape 1992 red wines
Aromas of toasted almonds, undergrowth, with a brick-red colour
characteristic of this vintage which is now at its best. We would
recommend it with traditionnal delicatessen meats or why not potted
meats.
Châteauneuf
du Pape 1993 red wines
A nose of kirsch and prunes with ever-present tannins. Powerfull
and concentrated in the mouth, this wine brilliantly represents a
vintage to be rediscovered in the next 2 years. To be served with
a grilled T-bone Steack or farm-made cheeses (camembert made with
unpasteurized milk).
Châteauneuf
du Pape 1994 red wines
The colour is bright brick-red. The noze suggests notes evolving
towards kirsch. The 1994 wines are generally fruity wines with sufficient
tannic structure to enable them to wait 3 more years before opening.
Châteauneuf
du Pape 1995 red wines
A purple robe with amber tints, a nose of undergrowth, suave
and harmonious in the mouth. The 1995 wines are models of balance
with an ageing potential of a least 10 more years. In order to benefit
fully from these wines, it is recommended opening them 2 or 3 hours
before tasting and serving them with roasts with herbs or once again,
fish dishes (red mullet in wine sauce).
Châteauneuf
du Pape 1996 red wines
Altough they may be a bit closed, the 1996 wines today present
spicy aromas with lactic notes. In the mouth they are dense and should
open out in the next few months. We can, however, begin drinking them.
Châteauneuf
du Pape 1997 red wines
Pleasant fruity wines to be enjoyed now. We can distinguish the wines
with more Grenache (crystallized fruit, prune nose) from those where
Syrah is more present (a liquorice finish). In both cases these are
agreeable wines which can accompany indifferently meat or fish dishes.
Châteauneuf
du Pape 1998 red wines
A great vintage, very spicy with a very deep garnet robe. Characterized
by aromas of over-ripe fruits (brandy, black fruits), they generally
have good balance between alcohol and tannins which makes them rich
and powerfull. Long-keeping wines, they are nevertheless interesting
young, thereby creating the risk that it might be difficult to keep
and appreciate them they're at their best in the ten year's time !
Châteauneuf
du Pape 1999 red wines
The first bottles of 1999 arrived on the market about 3 months
ago.
Endowed with a high tannic structure and good keeping potential, these
wines are to be kept 2 more years to allow them to begin expressing
their regional characteristics.
